CASTLE WALDENBURG

The former residence of the princes of Schönburg-Waldenburg offers a high-quality setting for social and private events. The history of the castle goes back to the 12th century. Before the First World War, it was even one of the most modern castles in Germany. From the middle of the 20th century, the premises were used as a lung clinic for more than 50 years. Today, the castle impresses with its ballrooms, library, mirror, tapestry and Chinese rooms as well as a castle chapel, historical castle kitchen and restored living rooms. The rooms are also suitable for seminars and corporate events.

SACHSENLANDHALLE

The Sachsenlandhalle in Glauchau, built in 1996, is regarded as the sporting and cultural centre of the district. The concept of this event location is convincing with its individual and powerful event offerings. Sentimental concerts, exciting sports competitions and glamorous cultural events are just as much part of the repertoire of the Sachsenlandhalle as interesting conferences and effective company presentations.

HIKING

The artificial lake Oberwald is located directly on a forest and hiking area. From here you can start your tours on well tarred and signposted hiking trails. Not far from the artificial lake is the Karl-May-Cave, in which the adventure writer was supposedly hiding from the guardian of the law.

Or use the Traffic Safety Centre to complete a driving safety training, where you get to know the personal and technical limitations of your vehicle better. Such training can help to become safer and more confident when handling the vehicle and also provides action and variety.

MODEL MAKER CLUB OBERLUNGWITZ

The model maker club Oberlungwitz is a group of model building enthusiast, who meet weekly for building, talk shopping and brainstorming. Every year in September the association organizes the model boat show at the artificial lake Oberwald.
